'Hey, you're at home? Who wants chestnuts? "Sophie returned with a bag from which you raised a good smell that put your mouth water. Parker looked up, curious, frowning.
"Chestnuts?" Said and stood up from his chair in the kitchen, where he was eating cereal with milk.
"chestnuts." Pointed out the other, putting the plastic bag on the table, the strong odor emanating Parker attracted like a magnet. He spent his eyes from cereal and milk to the envelope and decided to throw his spoon into the cup, which she placed on the peninsula and reached into his bag, looking for a roast chestnut. He took a punch and he sat in the place he had left.
"The others where are they?" Sophie said, taking off his coat.
"Eliot did not say, Hardison wanted to try the new satellite of the van and Nathan is below the bar. "doth accurately Parker, who knew more impersonal in tone.
Sophie nodded, noting with approval the grimace came on the face of the thief. "I suppose you're drunk again." He said, and sighed, sat down on the short side of the table, even taking her a chestnut. He opened the shell, looking very carefully how this unfolds, resulting in a slight crack. "You know, Nathan and I met at Paris."
Parker, who chewed with excessive zeal, he raised up her look a bit 'suspicious of who you are asking why such confidence is made. The skin had left close to the bag and was about to discard another time to finish what he had in his mouth, Sophie did not seem to have woken up and seemed set to come undecided whether to continue to talk or not. For Parker, things were less complicated: the history of Nathan and Sophie was a story that could not miss and what I felt was amazing to be able, without having done anything to tear her a little more information.
"Yes" Sophie began to chew, too. "We were at this time of year, you know? I was following him to understand what kind was it, study it a bit 'and damn, the next time we would meet I had the impression that I would not have done it again to save and that, sooner or later we would meet again. You know, during that shot, I've gotten a surprise move and the skin of our teeth. Nathan has always been pretty darn smart, and although I have taken, that time we went very close. "He sighed, shaking his head. "He was sexy then too, but you know ... was married. "
'With Maggie." adds Parker.
Sophie looked up at her and gave her hand, holding the palm up. "Yes," agreed, maintaining, however, absorbed a tone. "Every time I eat roasted chestnuts, I remember that day in Paris, opposite the Eiffel Tower. Down there, selling roasted chestnuts and, thus, when I saw a cart just two blocks from here, I could not resist and I gave it to my savings fund. "
" You could steal them, "Parker said, but Sophie did not listen.
"It was against one of the carts and it was ordering a bag just like this, Nathan, I mean. Do not ask me why I did that, probably, the thing is now no longer do it again, especially given that until a few days earlier he had chased me for half Paris and I should've been gone for a while, 'but ...' rose shoulders. Parker did not try to speak as he had the feeling that would not have been heard and then the story began to get interesting.
"I approached him, he was discarding a chestnut, that's right. "and imitated the gesture, making herself the first to bite and chew with the chestnut taste. "And he turned, slowly, he laid eyes on him. He immediately knew who I was. He told me ... Deveraux mademoiselle, you are putting into the hands of the wolf? "
" I just came to say goodbye, Mr. Ford. I'm about to leave Paris and seemed polite to shake hands with those who have spent so much time groped to catch them. "
Nathan had merely observed, curiously, did not seem bothered by his words, more than anything else was intrigued and amused by the woman who was so brazen to go and also to search through the streets of Paris, after he had been chasing all over town and all over Europe.
"So you found my name, eh?" He said.
"You know my name, it is right that we fight on equal terms and that I know of yours." Sophie replied, calmly, putting on an air of flirtatious.
Nathan had sneered at the argument. "You know, none of which do the hunting, usually, I am looking for: they think is the best way to get caught."
"Why should I fear such a thing?"
"I could have with me a team of policemen stationed nearby. "
" How could you? Now the loot is gone, the Paris police will certainly committed to look elsewhere and I do not think even you would have expected that we would see today. And then, even if I went to a pay phone, I'd already gone. "He raised his hands, fingers, and opening his arms, as if to mimic or perform a magic trick. "And you have missed a call. The Paris authorities are quite rude with those who call for no reason and especially to talk about the thief who mocked them under their own nose. "
Nathan had curled his lips and nodded in turn, thoughtful, persuaded by those arguments. "So what do you want from me, if you do not want to be arrested, Deveraux mademoiselle?"
Sophie had shrugged his shoulders. "As I mentioned before, only to say goodbye e. .. "he lowered his voice, leaning forward, with the conspiratorial air of one who wants to uncover a secret spicy. "Tell you that, next time, when we meet, you will never get me."
He seemed amused by those words, his eyes were crossed by a flash. "You're a challenge?"
"Call it what you want."
"Okay. So I bet you'll catch. "
Eyebrows were raised edited by Sophie, his expression showed all his skepticism. "Do you really? I'm not a dilettante, and you should have understood. "
" Believe me, I now know how and why I do not escape. "Nathan had made a step forward, closer to her so much that he had violated every rule of conduct on the distance that should take two strangers because they do not encroach on another's living space.
Sophie had not felt in awe, but he felt something that is very close to that feeling. Did not intend to give in front of his eyes. This helped him to become even more attractive to their eyes to what was at first sight. There was amazement, not safety or presumption, as in that moment, when he raised his hand and it was submitted. And he understood that the man was too intriguing to miss. 'A little more pepper in it can not do anything but make me do better. Until next time, Nathan Ford. "Joined him and spoke to him in the ear, in barely a whisper. He had discovered something about him, during that little exchange of words and would never let slip an opportunity to hit at least a little '. "Be careful that this is not me to use some tricks on you. Now you know how to reason. "
He continued on his way, pausing a second before disappearing behind her for her way to Paris, leaving him in front of the Eiffel Tower without a word, or perhaps too many, and maybe an epithet unladylike against him.
"So? And what did you say? Sophie? "
Parker's voice came the distant, as if in a movie and a flashback in black and black, he did a voiceover by the main character disorder, and reported to the harsh reality. Sophie looked at the bag of roasted chestnuts and smiled, nostalgic, while the eyes of Parker drilling, with morbid curiosity.
"Sophie?" Called her back again. "Well? What did you say? "
" Not much. But I stole his bag of roasted chestnuts ... "was the reply, a bit 'guilty and a bit' vague, Sophie. "Should not have been very happy, but I had to resize a bit 'his ego ... will never change, I suppose. "
exchanged glances. Parker seemed pleased with the turn of the conversation had taken. "You stole the roast to Nathan?"
Sophie looked at her quickly, before you look away, an embarrassed smile, the pursed lips. 'E' stupid, right? "
" Not so much ... I would even stole this one. "said Parker. Sophie looked at his finger pointing toward the envelope. The chestnuts were rapidly cooling down.
"We end up eating them." He said. "Before you come back up and can think of reproach that story."
